  1. What is Letterboxing? It is an activity which involves finding hidden containers (letterboxers) in remote and scenic locations, to collect stamps and record your visit in your and the letterbox logbook.
  2. How to join Letterboxing? You don’t need to join a club! Just grab a map, find some clues and go out searching.
  3. How do you do Letterboxing? First, you will need a Letterboxing kit. You will then need to work out the locations of the letterboxes from clues before going out and finding them.
  4. What do you need for Letterboxing? All you need is a pen and a notebook to use as a logbook and record your visits and stamps. A map and a compass will also help.
  5. What do you find in a Letterbox? You will find a unique stamp for the location and a logbook to record your name and the date you found the letterbox. There may also be a clue to another letterbox inside!
  6. What do you do when you find a Letterbox? Remove it from its hiding location and open it to find out what’s inside! Collect your unique stamp and where you found it in your log. Write in the letterbox log who you are and the date you located it. Once finished remember to place all the contents back in the container, seal it and put it back where you found it.
  7. Letterbox locations. Top secret. These are solved by clues and walking on routes whilst adventuring.
  8. Is Letterboxing safe? Yes, however, it does come with its own risks as any outdoor activity does, including slips, trips and falls, so be careful. Shropshire Letterboxing is not liable for any injury that may result in these activities or any outdoor activity you complete.
